MISSION

You can't manage what you can't measure, so it's important that businesses can measure their environmental and social impact, not only across their own operations, but also through their supply chains. Our mission is to give businesses the visibility and insight they need to do better business.

CHALLENGE

We've always known that the biggest impact sits in the supply chain. Typically more than 70% of emissions are Scope 3 (Deloitte). Yet it's the area that most businesses have the least visibility over. And there's good reason for this. It's extremely complex getting the data needed on so many different suppliers and products, whilst maintaining the consistency needed to consolidate it all into one insightful report.

HOW WE STARTED

We've always liked a challege, though, and saw that our expertise in extracting insights from complex unstructured data could be meaningfully applied to solving this challenge. Coming at things from the most challenging end, we started by creating the dream: a procurement and recipe management system that had sustainability data built in, to inform purchase and menu design decisions right where they were happening.

OUR REALISATION

We quickly realised that most businesses already have procurement and recipe management systems in place and don't want to switch their operational systems, but do want access to our sustainability insights. Since then we have focused on aggregating operational and purchase data from businesses and overlaying our sustainability insights to create a real-time view of their impact regardless of which system or systems they use. This has been very successful.

RESULT

In many ways we now resemble other ESG reporting platforms, but our unusual start as a procurement and recipe management software, has given us an in-depth understanding of the way that ESG data relates to business operations. This means our data architecture is well suited for providing businesses with real-time, granular insights on the impact of their actions and what they can do to improve.

OUR FOCUS TODAY

Our focus today is in helping businesses make progress on sustainability by consolidating their data, filling their knowledge gaps, and creating a realistic roadmap to hitting their ESG targets that we can help them achieve.

Our passion for sustainability

Our passion for sustainability

Our passion for driving sustainability across the hospitality value chain led to us creating and running our annual Better Hospitality Conference, an event that brings together thought leaders from all manner of hospitality operators and suppliers to discuss challenges and solutions, form connections and celebrate wins. This has given us an excellent network and knowledge of pioneering solutions, as well as what doesn't work so well in practice. Our team is on hand to share our knowledge and make practical suggestions to overcome challenges.

To date we have specialised in the hospitality and the food industry, because we know that the food industry accounts for around a quarter of total global emissions and is also a significant contributor to biodiversity loss, water shortages, plastic pollution, and animal and human welfare issues. Yet hospitality is where we all have a lot of fun and enjoy some wonderful food and drink, so we don't want to feel guilty about that.

This does, however, position us well to be able to cater for a wide range of other industries, because the food industry is one of the most complex out there in terms of ESG and the hospitailty industry involves a wide range of business models from real estate to retail, manufacturing and distribution.

Our 3Cs approach

Since we started as a procurement system, we've always focused on ensuring that our data can integrate seamlessly with operational systems and inform decisions real-time.

Consolidation

Multi site, multi system, multi currency, multilingual - whatever shape it's in, we take your complex data, source and overlay additional ESG insights and consolidate everything into a powerful control panel for your global operations.

Credibility

Our platform becomes a single point of truth for all ESG claims backed up with supporting evidence. This data is also updated real-time based on your operational data, so there is no danger of claiming something that wasn't happening as expected on the ground.

Customisation

Our agile data model is built to be easily adaptable for demanding customers, evolving legislation and unique business structures. Respond to every requirement and see your data the way that makes most sense to you with custom filters, charts and dashboards.
