Stirring (apologies) music to cook to in November includes Handel’s Music for the Royal Fireworks and Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture. If want something a little more relaxing, since it’s St Andrews Day on 31 November you could try the film music for Local Hero, a 1983 film about an american oil company which sends an executive to buy an entire village in Scotland to turn into an oil refinery. It’s beautifully observed and the score includes some wonderful pieces by Mark Knopfler and Dire Straits.
Then, since we are now into winter, there is Winter, by Love and Money, and the gorgeous medieval Blowe, Northerne Wynde by The Dufay Collective. There is also Winter Lady by Leonard Cohen.
There is also a lovely piece by Benjamin Biolay and Camélia Jordana, Jardin d’hiver.
